The name of the village comes from the nickname of its inhabitants. The inhabitants of the village descended from the family of priests of the Kizhi Pogost (XVII c.). Initially the village was situated on the island of Malkovets, opposite of the current location. Nowadays there are several houses preserved in the village. They were built at the beginning of the XX century.
