Initially the village was the center of the boyar patrimony of Novgorodian resident Lavrenty Panfiliev. At the beginning of the XX c. it was one of the biggest villages of the area. It counted seventeen houses. From the history of this village one can learn about such an interesting phenomenon of the Kizhi region as removal of villages from the island to the mainland. Initially the village was located on the island of Kizhi but then it was moved to the Zaonezhie peninsular. Apparently, it was done to remove buildings from fertile lands of Kizhi Island. In the XIX century the greatest part of Kizhi fields belonged to farmers of the village of Oyatevshchina. Thanks to the fact that farmer structures (a house, a barn and a sauna) were built without nails, they could be dismantled and assembled on a new place. Villagers retained the vacated lands.
