Podyelniki

Other names: Berezovets
First mentioned in 1563.

Number of farmsteads: 1 (1563), 3 (1678), 6 (1707), 9 (1911).

In the XVI c. the village consisted of one house. At the beginning of the XX c. it counted ten houses. The houses have gradually disappeared but the Chapel of St. Paraskeva and Barlaam of Khutyn has been preserved. It is dated from the second half of the XIX c. It was built at the expense of farmers. St. Paraskeva was considered the patroness of fields and livestock. On the day of Her veneration, October 28 according to Julian Calendar, they brought flax to the chapel to consecrate it. St. Barlaam of Khutyn was the founder of one of northern monasteries. He was extremely revered among farmers.

The Chapel of St. Paraskeva and Barlaam of Khutyn in the village of Podyelniki is the smallest one of all Zaonezhie chapels. It is simple modest and is not intended to be considered beautiful but it is very impressive thanks to the extraordinary harmony with the surrounding nature.

The tiny chapel is kind of hiding in the shade of centuries-old giant fir trees. They lace their roots at the walls and their wide branches almost embrace and protect time-blackened walls, the low-hanging roof, and the belfry turret from the weather.

A low stone fence, moss-covered boulders and a sunny meadow covered with flowers surround the chapel.
