There are just two houses that have been preserved from the ancient settlement. The house of farmer Elizarov built in 1880 has been brought to the Kizhi Museum from this village. The house is considered one of the best examples of a traditional Zaonezhie farmer house and adorns the main exposition of the museum. Trofim Ryabinin, the most famous epic songs narrator in the history of the Russian folklore, lived in the village of Potanevshchina. In 1860s-1870s folklore researchers P. Rybnikov and A. Guilferding recorded 23 epic tales from him. Most of them are the best examples of the Russian heroic epos. Trofim Ryabinin became the symbol of the talent of a Zaonezhie farmer.
